Chip and Crack Repairs
Can the crack, hole or chip in my tub be repaired?
The answer is…it depends. When you are talking about a crack or hole in fiberglass, it depends on the size. Fiberglass is extremely flexible with little support underneath. It is imperative to do a repair quickly to limit continuing damage.
Reglazing in itself is a cosmetic fix and doesn’t repair damage. We have to do additional work to try and limit continued structural damage, then reglaze to cover the repair.
Do yourself a favor that will save you from having to replace your bathtub or shower and send us a picture of your crack or hole and we will give you an estimate.
What about chips in cast iron or steel bathtubs?
Cast iron is incredibly durable and unbelievably heavy. There is usually no need to ever remove them from a bathroom. When your old cast iron has black chips showing through the original porcelain, we are experts of repairing and reglazing your bathtub to look like new.
Preparing for your Reglazing Project
Note: Your surface will need 24 hours to dry after the completion of the project, before using.
- The project space MUST have running water and electricity on the day of the project. (We cannot use an extension cord from an adjacent unit)
- All faucet drips and drain leaks must be repaired prior to the project date. (Let us know if you need our Plumbing service)
- Remove everything from the bathroom prior to our arrival (i.e..Soaps, shampoos, trashcans, towels, plungers, everything on the vanity countertop, all pictures hanging on the walls, rugs, hanging plants, shower curtains) If the project is not in a bathroom, remove all items within a 10 foot radius around the area which will be worked on.
- Give the bathroom a good wipe down removing dust, hair and spider webs before the technician arrives, so that he has a great space to be able to create beautiful results. Anything in the air can settle in the finish creating dust bumps or larger particles.
- Most work should be completed, if doing any remodeling, prior to any reglazing.
- No other work should be going on inside or outside on the day we are working.
- We use Low VOC, FDA and EPA approved products. However, there is an odor that is offensive to some people and animals. When possible, we do ventilate. Some bathrooms have no window to vent and this increases odor. There are no dangerous chemicals to be concerned about. It is Pleasdrying, but you should stay out of the bathroom for most of the day.
- If you have received an ESTIMATE over the phone, it is just that. An ESTIMATE. We are relying on information provided by you or maybe pictures that cannot possibly tell the whole story. We DO NOT try to upsell. If there is additional work not accurately seen or discussed, the technician has the final say on the work required and the price of the job.
