Fiberglass Reglazing
Fiberglass Bathtubs and Shower
Reglazing fiberglass units is a little different than how we reglaze cast iron or steel in the preparation process. Instead of applying a chemical for adhering the new surface to the old, for reglazing fiberglass sanding is required instead. The main concern with a fiberglass bathtub or shower is cracking. Because fiberglass is flexible, any weak point will continue to expand and become
worse. It is important to fix any cracks or holes in fiberglass immediately. The structural integrity of the bathtub will worsen and leaking may occur. The good news is Amazing Home Repairs, Llc can help get that damaged tub back to a usable and presentable condition. Our experienced Refinishers and Plumbers can recommend the best course of action for you. Especially on the bottom where weight is concerned. If there are cracks, they need to be repaired or they will get worse. Let us help you get more life from your fiberglass bathtub or shower.
Cultured marble/ Acrylic Tubs or countertops
All chip repair, dents, or cracks are similar to the cast iron and steel process. The gaps are very hard, as opposed to flexible fiberglass.
We have a wide choice of colors, multi-spec designs, etc. I do recommend anti-slip on the bottom of every tub. We have to follow strict guidelines with our Hotel accounts on this for safety reasons.
Preparing for your Reglazing Project
Note: Your surface will need 24 hours to dry after the completion of the project, before using.
- The project space MUST have running water and electricity on the day of the project. (We cannot use an extension cord from an adjacent unit)
- All faucet drips and drain leaks must be repaired prior to the project date. (Let us know if you need our Plumbing service)
- Remove everything from the bathroom prior to our arrival (i.e..Soaps, shampoos, trashcans, towels, plungers, everything on the vanity countertop, all pictures hanging on the walls, rugs, hanging plants, shower curtains) If the project is not in a bathroom, remove all items within a 10 foot radius around the area which will be worked on.
- Give the bathroom a good wipe down removing dust, hair and spider webs before the technician arrives, so that he has a great space to be able to create beautiful results. Anything in the air can settle in the finish creating dust bumps or larger particles.
- Most work should be completed, if doing any remodeling, prior to any reglazing.
- No other work should be going on inside or outside on the day we are working.
- We use Low VOC, FDA and EPA approved products. However, there is an odor that is offensive to some people and animals. When possible, we do ventilate. Some bathrooms have no window to vent and this increases odor. There are no dangerous chemicals to be concerned about. It is Pleasdrying, but you should stay out of the bathroom for most of the day.
- If you have received an ESTIMATE over the phone, it is just that. An ESTIMATE. We are relying on information provided by you or maybe pictures that cannot possibly tell the whole story. We DO NOT try to upsell. If there is additional work not accurately seen or discussed, the technician has the final say on the work required and the price of the job.
